Company Lunch At Mayim

Today, we had company lunch at Mayim, West Mall.

mayim
The food are very special, unique and healthy.

This is the list of food that we had:
Prawn & chicken salad with mango, dragon fruit, kiwi & strawberry toppings.
Nutritious double boiled soup.
King prawns with spicy sauce.
Sauteed chicken with red dates, black fungus , & Chinese herbs.
Simmered matrimonial vine with conpoy & scallop.
Healthy brown rice with carrot, celery, black bean, black fungus, yam, peanut & red bean.
Chilled mango pudding.

This is the first time I tried double boiled soup. It is called double boiled because it is cooked slowly using steam instead of direct fire. It took twice longer to cook soup this way. The soup contains papaya, fish and chicken. My boss said that for double boiled soup, it is better to drink just the soup, not the meat, as all the nutrient from the meat are already inside the soup.

I think most of us doesn't like the Sauteed chicken, half of the portion are still untouched. Such a waste.

Now I feel very full and sleepy :).
Time to go back to work.

Suffering - When Trouble Comes

For sighing comes to me instead of food;
my groans pour out like water.

What I feared has come upon me;
what I dreaded has happened to me.

I have no peace, no quietness;
I have no rest, but only turmoil."
Job 3:24-26
whentroublecomes

Life isn't fair.
Sometimes the wicked prosper and the good are cut down.
Some sick people are healed and others are not.
Suffering bewilders us.
Why did this happen to me? We ask.
If God is just and good, why do we sometimes suffer so much?
Surely it is not always because of our sin. It is easy to become bitter.

Yesterday, my discipleship class focus on topic suffering with reading from Job.

Job is the book of contradiction as Job attitudes towards God and suffering always change and contradict throughout the book.
Reading Job teach me a lot of things:

1.Not to look at things superficially as there are so many things which is out of our control.
2.Be a comforter to your friend. Do not give counsel without knowing the whole situation.
The words that you speak is not reversible.
You can't take back what you have said. Be quick to listen and slow to speak.
3.The book is about a test of faith of Job. It refuses the doctrine that suffering is a punishment of sin. We are put to test for a reason, we must have patient and self control. Never question God WHY, just let him take Him take control of our lives.

Mystery often accompanies our suffering.
Natural disaster, diseases, the action of others can cause us great pain.
In the face of suffering, disciple trust God. God does not always gives us answer; but God promises to be with us(Psalm 23).
We can either choose bitterness or trust.

The class end with a good marks of discipleship: Disciples trust God in the face of unexplained suffering.

Happy working all :).
Remember that life is not fair but God is good.

Does Life Has Any Meaning

Does Life Has Any Meaning?

Have you ever found yourself asking that question? You are not alone. Sooner or later this question confront everyone.
meaningoflife2
Albert Einstein put it this way, "Our situation on this earth seems strange, everyone appears here involuntarily and invited for a short stay into this world without knowing why."

Some suggested that we are a product of a chance, life only happens but has no meaning.

But the Bible said that we are created in the image of God, so we will live a purposeful life, as a representative to this world.

Deep down, we sense that life has meaning, but finding it can be so difficult.
People search for meaning in different ways.
Some people search for meaning of life in materialsm, the bumper sticker said, "The one who die with most toys win."
Others search for meaning in accomplishments.

At the end of the day, they have enough to live on, but not enough to live for.

In John 10:10 Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
We find meaning of life in relationship with God and others.

When we are in a good relationship with God, we come to a place where we can put our remote down because this is what we made for.

We are all going to die, each day we are going closer to the day of our death. But death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life with God.

The life that we live now is like an invesment to eternity. Bible said that after death comes judgement and evaluation of how we have lived. Each of us is given life and choices how we want to spend our lives. We can either chase after what this world has to offer and work to accumulate more stuffs or choose to invest in things of eternal significance.
When we see life in this perspective we will realise that each day has a meaning, not just for today but for eternity.

Overall the food is not bad. I felt very full. ^_^

The strange thing is the Duck with Onion comes at the very last moment, when all of us already feel very full and thought there is no more dishes will be served.

End up, 2 of my colleagues shared to take away almost the whole plate of duck.

Excuses

If you're not involved in any service or ministry, what excuse have you been using?

Abraham was old,
Jacob was insecure,
Leah was unattractive,
Joseph was abused,
Moses stuttered,
Gideon was poor,
Samson was codependent,
Rahab was immoral,
David had an affair and all kinds of family problem,
Elijah was suicidal,
Jeremiah was depressed,
Jonah was reluctant,
Naomi was a widow,
John the Baptist was eccentric to say the least,
Peter was impulsive and hot-tempered,
Martha worried a lot,
the Samaritan woman had several failed marriages,
Zacchaeus was unpopular,
Thomas has doubts,
Paul had poor health,
and Timothy was timid..

That is quite a variety of misfits, but God used each of them in His service.
He will use you too, if you stop making excuses....

Time To Change My HP

Yeah,,

I guess this is the time to change my handphone.
On Sunday my Ericsson T230 handphone suddenly goes off, and can't be on anymore.

The sad thing is, all my friends' number are still inside phone memory.
At first I am thinking about sending it for service. But, I think the service charge will be more expensive than the phone itself. So, it's not worth it.

Now, I am trying to find a good model out there... ^_^.
Not an easy job for sure.

Be Thankful That Thorns Have Roses

Yesterday was just like normal Tuesday.
I went to Disciple Class at my church.
The class is getting smaller and smaller each week.. hehehe..
This week a lot of people can't come because of flu...

Going to this class not only help me to learn about bible actually. It teaches me more things than I expected.

In the class, we have 2 facilitators (some kind of teacher who will provide all the materials, video, transparencies, etc).
Well, I will just mentioned one of them.

His name is Mike. He became Christian around 10 years ago. Last time he got nose cancer. Now there is some blocking on his veins. He mentioned that in normal case there are 4 veins supplying blood to the brain. But in his case, 3 are blocked and 1 is functioning perfectly.

Gosh.. I was thinking... 3 are blocked and 1 is working... that's terrible.

But instead of complaining about the 3 which is blocked, he give thanks that one is still working perfectly. He can still do and act like normal people. It's just that he must not stress out himself.

Well, a lot of times in my life, instead of be thankful for a few good things, I chose to complain about small matters.
I guess this is a good lesson for me.

Don't complain that roses have thorns, instead be thankful that thorns have roses.

I'll be Home in 11 Days

Fiuhh.. finally my new leave has been approved. ^_^
I am going back to Indo from 13-20 August 2005.

I hope this time, there will be no last minute cancellation from my boss anymore... I hope I hope...

At first, like other SPR, I was planning to go back during National Day. Save my precious one day leave.
I thought everything has been planned perfectly.
My 4 days leave has been approved by my Engineering Manager and my supervisor.
I have booked my air ticket.
I have told my mum and my sis.
I have told my KTB friend, they have even planned to fetch me back to Changi.
I have bought things for my family too.

And suddenly.... my new Engineering manager in US is planning trip to Singapore. And he will come on 8 or 10-11 of Aug..
I guess he doesn't know that 9 August is Singapore National Day and most people are taking leave that week.
The sad thing is my current supervisor said that he want to meet all engineers in Singapore...
Yeah.. and my boss asked me to cancel all my leave.

Hehehehe soo... I delayed my trip home one week later...
Yipee.. I can't wait to go back...
